All boys and girls in grades 8-12 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 2016 Knights of Columbus “Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest”. Essay entries must be received by Saturday, November 12.
The Knights of Columbus “Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest” is sponsored annually, with winners progressing through local, district, and state competitions. KC Council #9368 will award certificates to the top three winners in each category. The first place winner in each category from throughout the country will be forwarded to International Knights of Columbus. The KC International champions will be at the K of C international headquarters based in New Haven, CT with the winner receiving $300 and 2nd and 3rd place winners receiving $100 each.
All boys and girls in grades 8-12 are eligible to participate and will compete in their respective grade divisions. All contestants on the local level are recognized for their participation in the event.
The guidelines of the contest are: (1) Essays must reflect the assigned theme and be the student’s original work; (2) Essays must be typed and be between 500 and 750 words in length; (3) The student’s name should appear only on the official Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest entry form, which must be stapled to the essay and (4) All entries become the property of the Knights of Columbus and will not be returned.
