Grand Knight's Message:
►Big Variety of K of C Programs Available |
|

Victor Mendoza

Brothers,
I recently attended an Austin Chapter Knights of Columbus meeting. I was pleasantly surprised to learn about a variety of programs that the Knights of Columbus organization is associated with. Some of the programs I was familiar with. However some others I was not. These programs help us grow in our faith, community and personal lives. The participation varies from the local council, state council, national level as well as internationally. I have listed a few below for your review. Our Council 9368 at St. William is very active in several of these programs. Our participation in these programs will help our Council move forward into the future with our current programs as well as including new ones.

►*Effective Programs” = “Membership Growth and Retention”
Our programs that we conduct at our Council, District, Diocese and State always should center around good wholesome Church, Family and Community events. We should focus on this year’s theme “Lift High The Cross” as we develop and conduct our programs this year and never lose sight of who we and what we are, the Knights of Columbus-a Catholic, Fraternal organization established to help our Church, our Families and those around us.
License Plate Program
Order your Texas Knights of Columbus specialty license plates today. You can purchase your plates for only $30.00. This fee is in addition to your normal vehicle registration fee. Order forms are available at your county tax collectors or on the TxDOT website. The Texas State Council Knights of Columbus website will have a link to TxDOT, or go directly to www.dot.state.tx.us.

A Prayer for Priests
We pray Thee, O Lord Jesus Christ,
to shower Thy most abundant and precious
graces on the priests of Thy holy Church,
Who are Thy dear servants, the dispensers
of Thy celestial graces, the father of
our souls: that they being more and more
intimately united to Thee may obtain from
Thy bounty the grace to confirm our faith;
to strengthen our Hope, to increase our
Charity , to make us detest
our sins with more lively sorrow, through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen,
O Mary Queen of the Clergy, pray
for us; obtain for us many holy Priests.

►Friday Lenten Fish Fries begin February 23
Our annual Lenten Fish Fry dinner service to the Parish will soon be starting up again on the six Fridays from Feb. 23rd to March 30th. Stephen George will be the overall event chairman and GK Victor Mendoza will be the co-chair.
This year the event will be held in the "new PAC" and we will be using the Parish Hall kitchen for the food prep and cooking. Of course our fryers will be outside (possibly under a tent if needed).
This event requires a lot of volunteer help and we would like to involve some of our newer brothers in all aspects of the event. I have listed below the opportunities available and would like to identify a leader and a second for each area. Ideally the leader should be someone who has worked the position before and the second should be someone new. In addition, each area may require several people as workers. Contact Stephen George, 335-7645 (stephen-george@austin.rr.com).
Please for a list of opportunities for which your help is needed.

►Council 9368 Casino Night and Auction
Mark your calendar. On Saturday, April 28, 2007 for the Knights of Columbus Casino Night and Auction to be held at the new PAC. Tickets will be $25.00 per person and will include an Italian supper, bar drinks, and $10,000 of gaming chips for entertainment. Father Joel and Deacon Richard will do the live auction.
We need blackjack dealers. If you can deal, contact Greg Castro at 671-7279. We also need gifts and prizes for the live auction and silent auction. Can you provide something? Kirk Dressendorfer heads up that committee.
We are pleased to announce that the Mike Parker Real Estate Company has agreed to be our event corporate sponsor. Thank you Brother Knight Mike Parker.
Contact Marvin Felux at 255-6538 (felux@austin.rr.com) for more information.

New Years Eve Dance Big Success!

The event was to help provide funds for "The Gathering Place at St. William Church," and it was a big financial success.

►TABC Course Required for Work at Dell Diamond;
Council 9368 Workers needed for Seven Up-Coming Games
by Mike Goertz, Financial Secretary
We are again preparing for another year of fund (and fun) raising working for Express Hospitality Service at the Dell Diamond. The one qualification we are required is to be TABC trained. This is only requires one evening in a course that is offered at the Dell Diamond or can be taken in an on-line basis. The council covers the expense of the training. Our council has already been scheduled to work four men on Monday night and four men on Thursday night. Our normal hours of report are from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The more people that we have, the more we are able to swap out and to pick up extra events. The council gets reimbursed $35 for each man that works. We are allowed all the soft drinks that we can consume. Sorry, no beer. On our break (normally early in the shift) we are allowed to purchase any food item at half price. Some of the more exciting extra events that we get to pick at this year are as follows:
-
Saturday 1/27 UT Alumni Game 1pm
-
Friday 2/2 UT Game 3pm
-
Saturday 2/3 UT Game 1pm Alcohol Served These Games
-
Sunday 2/4 UT Game 1pm
-
Tuesday 2/6 UT Game 3pm
-
Thursday 3/29 Astros Exhibition Game 7pm
-
Sunday 4/1 Exhibition With Hooks No Info At This Time
Last year, our brother nights earned $3,500 for the council coffers. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Mike Goertz by phone 923-5734 (cell) or e-mail (FinancialSecretary@KofC9368.org).

Michael P. Regan's Field Agent Report:
ARE YOU PREPARED?
|
|

Michael P. Regan
Field Agent |
The Order's mission, passed to us by Father McGivney is: To protect widows and orphans against financial disaster. How are you and your family prepared for these circumstances?
- If you die too young?
- If you live too long?
- If in retirement you can no longer care for yourself?
|
|
The Knights of Columbus can help you prepare for these situations. We are “By Brother Knights for Brother Knights”. We share the same faith and the same hopes for our family as you do for yours. We are trained professionals who know both the factual side of the business and the emotional side of the decision. We are well positioned to help you decide what coverage you need within your budget. We are also keenly aware of the Order's mission, passed to us by Father McGivney: To protect widows and orphans against financial disaster.
The Knights of Columbus, for almost 125 years, has stayed true to its mission and stayed expert at its core business while so many companies have "remade" themselves. We have been so well managed yearly we receive the highest possible ratings from A. M. Best, A++ (Superior); Standard and Poor's, AAA (Extremely Strong); and the IMSA certification.
Finally, our products are better than most. We are specialists; we sell life insurance, long term care and annuities, and we are good at what we do. In 2006 we had over $61 billion dollars of insurance in force and we returned to our insured more than $343 million of life insurance dividends. Did you get your share?
So, to help you answer these questions, I'll be happy to meet with you and provide a complimentary, custom-tailored needs analysis, to answer these questions and any others you might have, so that you’ll know exactly where you stand and understand what’s best for you and your family! Please give me a call (512) 828-6859 or email me at Michael.regan@kofc.org
