Brothers,

Thanks to all who helped this year with our 3rd annual Golf Tournament.  The weather was good, the fairways and greens at Star Ranch were in great shape, and the food was outstanding!  A great deal of fellowship was shared by all our brother knights and most importantly by everyone who attended.  This year we had a record number of players 25 teams total!

Golf Winners
Congratulations to the winners, who were 16 under par: Paul Marshall, Josh Luongo, David Compos and Mike Krall

Michael P. Regan's Field Agent Report:
A Timeless Message

I recently read an article from our Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson. I want to share it with you in this month’s council newsletter.

Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson writes:  I just recently came across this article from the March 1925 edition of the San Salvador Council 1 bulletin.

Though it was written more than 80 years ago, its message is still relevant today:

"The Knights of Columbus owes its origin to the fact that Father McGivney and that small band of pioneers who formed the nucleus for this great Order realized the necessity of insurance protection for the Catholic. Many times in their experience they had seen the breadwinner of a family called by his Creator and the wife and the little ones left destitute.

"It was to educate Catholic men to the necessity of carrying adequate insurance that the Order was primarily formed. The other benefits were added after the insurance feature was decided upon.

"And if we stop to reflect a moment we can realize how necessary it is that every man with dependents, whether they be a wife and children, or a father and mother, brothers or sisters, should provide an estate for them in the event of his death. The average man cannot hope to earn such an estate and therefore life insurance offers him the only opportunity to provide it.

"Every member of the Knights of Columbus should carry insurance. The rates for Knights of Columbus Insurance are very reasonable and it is absolutely safe insurance.

"Young men particularly should take insurance now. Many feel that they have no responsibilities now and that they will add insurance when they get married. Sometimes to their sorrow, they find that when they desire to take on insurance, a physical disability bars them from the insurance feature, or that they must necessarily pay a higher rate for their protection. The safe way is to take insurance now when you are young. Later years will prove the wisdom of your act.

"If you are now an associate member, seek information about the insurance features of the Order. You will be doing your loved ones a real favor."
What more is there to say? Good advice then, good advice today. Vivat Jesus!
