August
5th-13th Knights of Columbus Family week. Council #9368 will celebrate
Mass August 6th at 9:30 am. The week provides an opportunity to
show our appreciation for our families. Our Order encourages us
to take some time from our busy schedules and spend some time
with family. Pray the Rosary together, have an old fashion dinner
without the interruption of a TV or phone and simply enjoy family
time. Reflect on the values of The Holy Family as they are our
best examples of family unity. Their values included interdependence,
sharing and mutual respect.
I personally recall many times that my family has had an opportunity
to recall special moments from our past. The most memorable memories
always include family. I encourage you to make special memories
this week with your family. You will benefit from these moments
in time in the months or years to come when you reminisce and
think back to the year 2006 and enjoy a wonderful memory.

Follow Up from Greg Castro:
On
a unseasonably cool night the brothers and family members of KC
9368 participated in the Knights of Columbus night at the Dell
Diamond on July 25th. Approximately 60 members and families were
present and we were able to christen the new gas grill which had
a variety of foods from the regular hot dogs and burgers all the
way to beef ribs and poppers. Deacon Richard's banana pudding
stole the show once again as the popular dessert.
The game went into extra innings with the express losing in the
twelfth. Thanks to all who participated and we look forward to
the next time.
God Bless,

Victor Mendoza

ORDER
EARNS HIGHEST RATINGS FROM
A.M. BEST, STANDARD & POOR'S
For
the 31st consecutive year, the A. M. Best Co., has given the Knights
of Columbus its highest rating, A++ (Superior).
A.M.
Best is a worldwide insurance rating and information agency that
issues in-depth reports and financial-strength ratings about insurance
organizations. In its statement accompanying the "Superior"
rating, A.M. Best said that it reflects the Knights' "long-established
presence as a fraternal benefit society, a very strong market
presence in the Catholic community enhanced by an extensive distribution
network, membership growth, consistently positive aggregate statutory
earnings, excellent persistency, a superior level of risk-adjusted
capitalization, and a well-defined asset/liability management
program."
The
A.M. Best report notes that "the Order's level of risk-adjusted
capitalization is superior, based on A.M. Best's Capital Adequacy
Ratio, for its current business profile and investment risks,
enhanced by its profitable operating results, high credit quality
fixed-income portfolio, reduced levels of unaffiliated common
stock, and strong asset/ liability management that has allowed
the Knights of Columbus to maintain its competitive dividend scale
over the long term."
Supreme
Knight Carl A. Anderson welcomed the A.M. Best report, and said
that "it reflects our extraordinary success at fulfilling
a central part of our mission, established at our founding in
1882, of protecting Catholic families with life insurance."
For
the 14th consecutive year, Standard & Poor's has given the
Knights of Columbus its highest rating: AAA (Extremely Strong).
Standard & Poor's is the financial industry's foremost independent
rating bureau, providing investment, credit and risk analyses
of institutions around the world. The Knights of Columbus is one
of only four insurance providers in North America to receive the
highest ratings from both Standard & Poor's and A.M. Best,
as well as certification from the Insurance Marketplace Standards
Association for ethical business practices.
In
its 2006 report, Standard & Poor's singles out the Knights
of Columbus' "strong capital," and its "very strong"
competitive position and liquidity. It also cites the Knights
"historically strong profitability," which it attributes
to the insurer's record of "high persistency rates, favorable
mortality experience, and strong investment returns." The
Standard & Poor's report goes on to note that the Knights
of Columbus is "successfully achieving its primary objective
of providing members and their families with high-quality, low-cost
insurance products. The [Order] focuses on membership growth and
the distribution of fraternal benefits by engaging its members
in charitable, educational, religious, and social endeavors in
the community."
Father
Michael J. McGivney's primary purpose in forming the Knights of
Columbus was, "to render financial aid to its members and
the beneficiaries of its members." The Order receiving the
highest ratings demonstrates how we have lived up to Father McGivney's
wishes. As your local Supreme representative, allow me the opportunity
to help you and your family design a plan for protection using
our custom-tailored needs analysis.
